Questions

What Sailing level do you need for each boat in OSRS?

The raft is the reward from the Pandemonium quest, which unlocks Sailing. A skiff needs Sailing 15 and costs 15,000 gp from any shipwright. A sloop needs Sailing 50 and costs 200,000 gp. Extra rafts cost 1,000 gp. Boat purchase levels cannot be boosted.

Does a new boat come with parts?

Yes. Every boat starts with the lowest tier of each core part: a wooden hull, bronze helm and wooden mast with linen sails, plus a bronze keel on skiffs and sloops. Rafts have no keel.

How many facility hotspots and cannons does each boat have?

A raft has 1 facility hotspot, a skiff has 7 and a sloop has 13. Each hotspot only accepts certain facilities. Rafts and skiffs can carry 1 cannon, sloops 2.

Can I build boat parts without the Construction level?

Construction and Sailing build levels can be boosted. If you have the Sailing level but not the Construction level, a shipwright can build some parts for a coin fee, up to mahogany and mithril tier, for hulls, masts and sails, helms, keels, cargo holds, cannons and salvaging hooks.

Why does the shopping list ask for more iron ore than iron bars?

Iron ore has a 50% chance to smelt into a bar at a normal furnace, so you need about twice as much ore. Smelting at the Blast Furnace, with Superheat Item or while wearing a ring of forging always succeeds.

All levels, materials and sources come from the Old School RuneScape Wiki, captured 2026-10-15. Where the wiki contradicts itself, the planner lists the conflict and the value it uses.
